Characteristics of Invertebrates

There are 6 groups of Invertebrates.
Look at the picture below, then find 2 characteristics of each group.


Characteristics of Vertebrates

There are 5 groups of Vertebrates.
1) Fish












Fish breathe through gills which take oxygen out of the water. They have scales and fins that help them move through the water.

2) Amphibians

Amphibians have very thin skin and must always be kept wet because amphibians breathe through their skin. they do have lungs, but their lungs are small and are not used very much. 


3) Reptiles



Reptiles are covered in hard scales. Reptiles live on land, although many of them swim well and may feed in water, such as some snakes and lizards. They breathe using lungs.


4) Birds


Birds have bodies covered in feathers. They do not have teeth but use their beaks to break their food. Their from limbs are adapted as wings, although not all birds fly. Birds breathe using lungs.


5) Mammals



Mammals have fur or hair on their bodies.All mammals are warm blooded and most of their young are born alive. All mammals have lungs to breathe air.
